Cha, Cha , Cha, Changes
OK, so looking at this from the outside I notice a fair amount of CHANGES, some disruption, a good amount of uncertainty, and unintended consequences. It's not complete and total Chaos, hey people LIFE HAPPENS!
I hope that those in control will provide a clear and focused direction for THIS BOARD soon and put the rumors and inuendo to rest (well at least for awhile... <winks>).
So here's the opportunity to lay out the road map (in the Anouncements Section):
Maybe someone (with leverage) will start a new thread and make it a "sticky".

Just sent a chill up my spine. Sounds too much like partial differential equations or calculus of variations!

It is worse than that .... and it costs $300.00. I have other ideas for my $300, no offense to the authors.

Before there was a Faculty Club @ UCSD, the Triton Pub was the only option. I remember one finals night bartending while sitting with the Chairman of the Mathematics Department. He said "I don't drink beer often, but when I do, I drink a boatful." True story . . . Anyway, he passed me in Calculus of Variations just for showing up every day! (I will leave his name out of this forum.)

Anyway, for any prospective mathematics students, don't worry about the big books. It's when you get a tiny little book with no pictures (maybe published in Moscow) that you need to re-examine your limitations.

I took a Combinatorics Class in college. That was the Smallest math book I've every come across. About 74 pages. As a class we made it through about 20...
Good times had by all.
